DO YOU WONDER?

             By Curtis Dean

Do you wonder why I’m weary when the day is finally done,
When often I’m left wondering both “why” and also “how”?
When times of life have changed so much from what they used to be,
And frequently I wonder, “Dear Lord, what will happen now?”

Maybe likewise you have dreams that were cherished long ago,
You held them close and nourished them down deep within your heart.
But change will come, dreams disappear, and emptiness sets in;
The void’s so deep and now you wish to have a brand new start.

The times move on, we cannot see, nor can we know ahead,
What lies before us on life’s road, it’s hidden from our eyes.
But faithfully we must press on assured the Lord is there,
He never leaves us nor forsakes and hears our plaintive sighs.

So trust, my friend, in One who knows the path that lies before,
Trust His mighty power to lead and guide along life’s way.
“If we could see, if we could know,” sometimes we used to sing;
Now stir up faith and know that God still over us holds sway!

Oh yes, the doubts sometimes will rise, and fears lurk close nearby,
But then’s the time to look to Him and trust His loving hand.
A hand that leads us surely on through daytime and the dark;
And sometimes when it seems we’ll fall, instead He helps us stand.

We’ll wonder, yes, we often will, and wish that we could know;
What lies before in months to come, or maybe right ahead;
But someday we’ll look back and see just where we now have trod,
Then we shall see that though it all our Blessed Savior led!

Once again, this was written with no previous planning; written at a time when faced with enormous problems.
