THANKFUL?

(A poem for Thanksgiving)
by Curtis Dean

Thankful? Even though our nation’s at war
With men who hate and whose ways we abhor?
But our God can remove or set up a king;*
And someday true peace to this world He will bring!

Thankful? When times are tough and going is rough;
When to meet one’s needs there’s not nearly enough?
But God has promised those needs to supply,
Our job is to follow and on Him rely!

Thankful? When loved ones are pulled twixt and twain;
And others have lives that are oft filled with pain?
And there may be some who have too little sage,
But we love them all regardless of age!

Thankful? Yes, Lord, but give us peace in our hearts,
Help us to follow and never depart.
And thanks, once again, for Your help from the start,
And for the blessings Your grace does impart!
